October is National Dental Hygiene Month and Parkview Dental is honoring a hygienist each week in the month. Today we recognize Pam H. Pam has been in the hygiene field for 40 years!
How has the hygiene world changed since you started? Back when I started, we did not even use gloves or masks. People did not know how to take good care of their teeth and had barely heard of floss. Of course there were no computers. I do not miss any of that or the fact that patient could smoke in the reception room. I chose this profession because I wanted to overcome my childhood fears of the dentist so it is always a joy to help patient through their fears in the dental chair.
What leadership roles have you held while being a hygienist? It was an honor to serve as trustee for the Minnesota Dental Hygiene Association for our section of the state. I represented us at the state meeting and organized semi-annual meetings for our district.
What do you like most about your career? I enjoy my job because I can help people attain better oral dental health. I also treasure getting to know my patients on a personal level. I am thankful for my great peers at Parkview who are always teaching me new things after all these years.
Thank you Pam for your many years of service as a hygienist. Our dental clinic is blessed to have your talents and experience!!!
