October is National Dental Hygiene Month and Parkview Dental is honoring a hygienist each week in the month. Today we recognize Amy and her 20 years of service in hygiene.
How has the hygiene world changed since you started?
When I started hygiene 20 years ago, we charted with black, red, green and blue colored pencils on paper…now I chart on a computer. We would spend time developing x-rays in a dark room and today with digital imaging dental x-rays appear with seconds. By far, technology has been the biggest advancement and change.
What have you enjoyed most about your career?
I would have to say the opportunity to provide patients with healthier and brighter smiles. I vividly remember my first trip to the dentist when I was young…I was scared! My commitment each day is to make patients, young and old, feel welcomed and comfortable in the dental chair. Nothing makes me smile more than when a patient leaves our office looking forward to their next dental visit.
Thank you Amy for your commitment to the development of good oral health as a hygienist.
