This October marks the sixth straight year that the American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA) and the Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company are teaming together during National Dental Hygiene Month (NDHM), with the ADHA and the Wrigley Oral Healthcare Program (WOHP) working collaboratively to increase public awareness about the importance of maintaining good oral health. The focus on NDHM this year centers around the four components of good oral health maintenance:
- brushing teeth twice daily
- flossing every day
- rinsing with antimicrobial mouth rinse
- chewing sugar-free gum
As dental hygienists, we are encouraged to remind our patients to “Do the daily 4”! During dental office visits, we start conversations with patients on how integrating good oral health-care habits into their daily routine to benefit not just their oral health, but also contribute to improved overall health.
